7 March 2002 NEWS RELEASE INVESTMENT IN PEOPLE ENCOURAGED Business people in Lincolnshire and Rutland are being encouraged to support their employees and sign up for the Investors in People standard. The Workforce Development Team at Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland are running a series of workshops that focus on business development and help organisations work towards Investors in People recognition. The FOCUS programme consists of six workshops, covering topics including management, business planning and communication. Each seminar is highly interactive and provides delegates with tried and tested management skills. Sally Walker, workforce development manager at Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland said, "The programme focuses on the needs of organisations and gives businesses the opportunity to share ideas and best practice with other delegates facing the same challenges. Each one has received excellent feedback." A further event is planned for those companies who have already achieved Investors in People, which will examine the best methods to monitor and evaluate improvements within the organisation. The seminar will cover how to set appropriate measurement targets and collect information that can be used to plan future development. It will be held on 20 March at the Business Link offices. To date 130 Lincolnshire and Rutland businesses have become recognised Investors in People and a further 121 firms have committed to gaining the standard. A survey of 2000 businesses that have completed Investors in People found the benefits included · 92% improved communications · 52% reduced staff turnover · 45% improved profits · 45% improved sales The workforce development team at Business Link can deal with queries regarding any aspect of training, recruitment and qualifications.
