PRIZE DRAW SUCCESS FOR LINCOLNSHIRE BUSINESSMAN
Lincolnshire businessman John Webb is celebrating after taking home a brand new laptop computer, courtesy of Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland.
John, who is a managing partner at Spalding-based WJ Webb & Co, won the AppleMac iBook computer in a prize draw for businesses who responded to the Business Link survey last year.
He said, "I filled in the survey because I attended a day-long seminar on digital cameras at Business Link which I found very useful. I had forgotten all about the prize draw so it was a great surprise to be told I was a winner."
WJ Webb & Co is a small business run by John and his wife Lorraine, specialising in the manufacture of custom made rubber mouldings. Although their products have many end uses, approximately one third of the product range is military communications equipment components for global electronics companies.
The business also supplies automotive parts no longer available from the original manufacturers. WJ Webb & Co is able to produce the tooling and then custom mould a variety of parts for vintage cars including Rolls Royce and Bristol.
The Business Link survey was carried out in September. It targeted 7,000 businesses and was one of the largest business surveys ever to be carried out in Lincolnshire.
Key findings showed that although more than 75 per cent of businesses want to grow over the next two years, less than 10 per cent believe the economy will improve in the same period of time.

The business plan pledges to continue support for established businesses, as well as stimulating successful community enterprises, encouraging more start-up businesses and more young people to become entrepreneurs.
