NEWS RELEASE
SCHOOL LEARNS THE VALUE OF INVESTING IN PEOPLE
Teachers and pupils at a school in Louth have finished the summer term on a high note after being awarded the Investors in People standard by Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland.
Locksley Christian School received the prestigious award at a celebratory banquet held at the Town Hall in Louth and attended by the Director of Education Dr Cheryle Berry. She said, "The students' love and care for each other is obvious, and this does not just happen. Adults working together as a team have provided strong role models, which have contributed significantly to the Investors in People achievement."
An independent school with charity status, it has 56 pupils aged two to 18. The school aims to uphold traditional values, founded on the Christian faith and there is a high level of commitment by staff and pupils to this. Learning is not age dependent - individuals are taught in learning centres rather than classes and study a core curriculum appropriate to their ability. There is also a strong emphasis on inclusion and the school has been particularly successful with children with special educational needs.
It was founded in 1992 by Mandy Franklin, who began by teaching her own children and found her values and ideals appealed to other families. Through word of mouth the school expanded and now employs a dozen teachers and assistants.
Mandy said, "We have a strong vision that already incorporates much of what Investors in People stands for - teamwork, excellence and so on, but we wanted to link this with improving our organisation and management strategy.
"Since achieving the standard we have become much more pragmatic in our approach and implemented an effective development plan for the school which everyone works together to put into practice."
Malcolm Walker, Investors in People assessor, said, "The staff, parents and pupils at the school have much to be proud of. Locksley Christian School is a 'beacon' for the Investors in People standard and they have shown what dedication and commitment can achieve."
