10 July 2002 NEWS RELEASE LINCOLN COMPANY SCOOPS NATIONAL PRIZE Two Lincolnshire businesses have received widespread acclaim following their success at the national finals of the UK Online for Business/Interforum E-Commerce Awards last week, (sponsored by Cisco Systems, The Royal Bank of Scotland Group and The Daily Express newspaper.) Lincoln firm Medicircle was presented with the national E-business Award for their interactive websites selling first aid equipment. The company supplies both sports players and businesses and also provides online information on health and safety rules and legislation. Their sites are www.firstaid4sport.co.uk and www.medicircle.co.uk The Grantham-based Woodland Trust was highly commended in the voluntary/community category for its site, www.phenology.org.uk, which helps to track environmental and climate change. Volunteers record when natural, seasonal events occur and this data is then compared with previous years. Medicircle developed their websites and E-business strategy via Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland's E-Business Development Programme. Information Technology & E-Business adviser, John Owens, says, "This prestigious national recognition is a just reward for the two organisations who have worked hard to make their online presence an outstanding success." The E-commerce Awards are held annually, and recognise organisations that demonstrate excellence through the use of the Internet in four categories - voluntary/community, E-trading, E-business and micro-business. Since the awards began in 1999, Lincolnshire businesses have been very well represented, with two national winners, one regional winner and one regional runner-up. This year, six Lincolnshire firms were finalists in the regional awards, including Bridge Musical Instruments who were winners of the E-Business section at the Lincolnshire & Rutland Business Awards in June.
