NEWS RELEASE
LEICESTER BUSINESSES EXPERIENCE OVERSEAS TRADE
Five Leicester businesses were among eight firms who travelled to Norway to investigate a potential new export market.
The trip was part of 'Export Explorer', an integrated package of advice and help for exporters, delivered locally by Trade Partners UK and Business Link for Leicestershire.
Firms were offered 'warmed-up' sales leads generated by the British Embassy in Norway and a programme of meetings.
Among companies taking part were textile firms and a manufacturer of ornamental ironwork.
Glyn Maybury, director of Hinckley-based Lemar said everyone on the trip found it beneficial and the whole experience was an excellent introduction to exporting.
"Norway is an ideal market for me," added Mr Maybury. "I have already sent some product samples over to one of the companies I visited and I'm hoping they will agree to sell our products over there."
Tim Jelley, senior international trade adviser said, "This introduction to trading overseas allows businesses to get experience and advice for a minimal cost. Feedback is very positive and many delegates go on to develop a thriving export business."
Aimed at the novice exporter, Export Explorer offers small and medium sized businesses an introduction to trading in Scandinavia, Benelux or Ireland with general training and counselling before the visit and follow up advice upon their return.
Anyone interested in taking part in future trade events should contact Tim Jelley, Senior International Trade Adviser, on 0845 070 0086
