28 February 2002 NEWS RELEASE NEW FIRM CREATES UP TO 200 JOBS Up to 200 jobs are to be created by the launch of a new security firm in Leicester. Premier Security Services have just signed their first major contract, guarding the Burton-on-Trent-based distribution centre for national vitamin and mineral retailer Holland and Barrett. Located on Ross Walk, the company offers a complete range of security solutions to businesses in Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire. By providing everything from static security officers to combined technological solutions, they plan to build a reputation as "a quality service provider of integrated security solutions and after sales support". Managing directors Gary Sheffield and Andrew Hallam have more than 22 years' experience in the security industry between them and have both occupied senior positions within major international and global security companies. This knowledge, together with help from Business Link for Leicestershire's Hi-Growth scheme, means Premier Security Services is achieving exceptional growth. "Between us we have all the experience and many of the resources of a large company but without the inherited business and associated problems", said Mr Hallam. "Therefore we are in a position to offer a full range of tailor-made security solutions to our clients and invest in the training and development of our employees." Initially employing 20 people, this number is expected to increase ten-fold over the next 18 months and turnover is predicted to reach £500,000 by April. Business Link for Leicestershire's Hi-Growth scheme offers free assistance to any business with a projected turnover of £150,000 in the first year of trading and the ability to achieve £1 million in years three, four and five. Mr Hallam said, "The Hi-Growth scheme put us in touch with possible investors and other contacts. It also gave us the opportunity to talk through our ideas and we worked out a comprehensive business plan with our business adviser Kathy Parker." "Everyone we came into contact with at Business Link gave us good, honest advice, which gave us the courage and confidence to continue."
