14 August 2002 NEWS RELEASE CLEANLINESS IS KEY TO RAPID GROWTH Champagne bubbles mixed with soap bubbles as a Lincolnshire company celebrated its first anniversary and toasted a sparkling future. Boston-based Soap of the Earth was formed in 2001, to supply natural luxury toiletries to the gift trade. Now the company has embarked on Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland's HiGrowth scheme to create a realistic plan to manage current and future growth. The company produces mainly aromatherapy soaps and related items and places great importance on natural quality and presentation. Products are made from natural skincare cleansing products such as Calendula and Teatree and are distinctive in terms of content and packaging. All products are developed, produced and packaged by hand. Following an exhibition at the Spring Fair at the NEC, where the company received 26 export enquiries, operations have expanded to include Jordan, Belgium and the Falkland Isles as markets. This is in addition to their domestic customers - products are already sold in more than 50 British outlets including department stores, beauty salons and by mail order. Yvonne Stevens, joint partner of Soap of the Earth with husband John, said, "Our first year has been incredible and we have accomplished so much. Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland have been invaluable, they have provided us with advice and support and helped us to source funding for packaging design and exhibition support. Without that, the level of market penetration we have achieved would not have been possible." Ends For further media information CONTACT Kate Downs on 0116 254 4472
