NEWS RELEASE
SPECIAL PEOPLE ENCOURAGE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland are hoping that an idea taken from the Police Force will encourage more employers to focus on workforce development.
The Business Training Network at Business Link is appealing for individuals from a range of member businesses to work as 'specials'. They will be trained to identify member's training needs and then plan and facilitate network events to address those needs.
The idea is based on Special Police Officers, who are drawn from the community to work for the community. Funding for the project has been successfully applied for from the Learning and Skills Council's Local Initiative Fund and co-ordinator Joy Cole believes everyone will gain from the new approach.
"This is a real opportunity for both employers and employees to gain new skills that can be used in the workplace and for the benefit of the network. It will also allow us to put on more events in Lincolnshire and Rutland because there will be more people trained to deliver workshops," she said.
Individuals who take part will work within one of two small teams, to deliver network events across either the north or south of the county. They will work with an experienced mentor who will provide full training and support and there will be plenty of opportunity to make new contacts and develop further skills and approaches.
A workshop for those interested in becoming a special is being held on July 18 at the Lincolnshire Oak in Sleaford. For further details contact Joy Cole on 01522 574025.
