23 July 2002 NEWS RELEASE MOUNTAIN TREK AIMS TO RAISE THOUSANDS Lincolnshire office worker Kelly Brotherhood will face the challenge of a lifetime later this year when she scales the highest active volcano in Ecuador. Kelly, an administrator at Business Link Lincolnshire & Rutland, is participating in 'Trek Ecuador 2002' to raise money for the charity Barnardo's. She said, "I wanted to do something worthwhile - that would really make a difference to others. This sounded such an amazing experience I decided I would give it a go." Barnardo's helps 90,000 young people and families a year, all over Britain, with problems such as homelessness, poverty and abuse. The trek takes place over 13 days, walking for six to eight hours a day through rainforests, grasslands and wilderness before climbing the 19,374ft mountain Cotopaxi - which is higher than Kilimanjaro. Kelly has already collected more than £1,350 through sponsorship from companies such as Evolution Health and Fitness, Mortons of Horncastle and Business Link and is hoping to raise a further £2,000 by organising car boot sales, a pub quiz and other events in conjunction with Fitness First Health Club. "The training is hard work," she admits, "but thanks to my personal trainer Adie Davis, I can already see a difference in my overall fitness and lifestyle. This is a great personal challenge - both raising the money and completing the trek, but I cannot wait to get started." For further information on 'Trek Ecuador 2002' or to offer sponsorship, contact Kelly Brotherhood on 01522 574074. Ends. For further press information CONTACT Kate Downs on 0116 254 4472
