NEWS RELEASE
LEICESTER FIRM SEES THE WAY TO SUCCESS
A Leicestershire firm is feeling the benefits of becoming an Investors in People organisation just seven months after committing to the standard.
Oadby-based EAS Windows, which manufactures and fits UPVC products including windows, doors and conservatories, has already won new business as a result of achieving the award and has also seen increased communication and motivation within the company.
Managing director David Spradbury said, "Customers have told us they chose EAS Windows over other companies because they recognised the Investors in People logo and realised we would have high standards in place. Business colleagues and competitors have also commented on our achievement, which has put us in the same league as other, much bigger manufacturers.
"We decided to work towards Investors because we wanted to improve the systems and procedures in place and monitor our progress against a national standard. It was also important to ensure the whole team was working towards the same goals and had the training and skills to achieve them."
Since completing the standard, there has been a marked increase in the number of employees interested in continuing their training and personal development, both through in-house training and by working towards NVQ qualifications in either manufacturing or installing UPVC products.
Clifton Springthorpe, Investors in People practitioner at Business Link for Leicestershire, said this was not unusual. "A survey of 2000 businesses that have completed Investors in People found the benefits included 52% reduced staff turnover and 45% increased profits."
