It’s hopwood PR’s 20th anniversary this year, and to celebrate, we’re running a series of fundraising events. In April, I swam 5k for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Now, Laurel is preparing to run the Leicester half marathon and Duncan is currently in rigorous training for the London Triathlon this August.

That’s a lot of hard work, so we thought we should take a break from our sporting activities and celebrate in more relaxed fashion by hosting a lunchtime barbecue at our Regent Road offices.

We were lucky enough to team up with the Orange Tree, a local bar and restaurant chain, who served up tasty barbecue food and mixed up exotic cocktails for all our guests. We also managed to swing some extremely good prizes for a raffle, including a meal for two and bottle of wine at Entropy, Comedy Festival tickets, and original artwork from local artist Peter Welton.

All proceeds went to Self Unlimited, a national charity for people with learning disabilities, and our barbecue was perfectly timed to take place during Learning Disability Week.

Friends, clients and colleagues from two decades of working in Leicester attended, and helped us raise nearly £500.

If you missed out and would still like to show your support and help tip us over the £500 mark, you can make a donation to Self Unlimited at http://tiny.cc/hopwoodbbq
